This
Banded Sphinx moth showed up on August 22nd, about a month after the
Black Witch moth appeared and was practically in the same exact spot. I estimated that it was over 3 inches wide. It was a gorgeous critter.
I did a little research and it is
Eumorpha fasciatus.
Eumorpha means "well formed".
Fasciatus means "bound together" which makes sense on account of the lines and bands present on this moth.
What does this mean? (...and where is that spooky music coming from?)
ReplyDeleteThe same exact spot?
Nonetheless, that is a gorgeous creature.
