Blogging Break

We discovered that the A/C unit is leaking water. Who knows how long that was happening. It most likely was a couple of days. It has soaked the underlayment underneath the hardwood flooring in the hallway and extended pantry. This means the flooring is ruined. We are going to have to rip up and replace the flooring those areas.

There is a distinct possibility we will have to replace the entire den area too. We will not know until we get the flooring up in the hallway.

Anyway, I am needing to take a break from blogging to deal with this problem.

To be honest, I do not know when I will return. I am depressed and discouraged with this setback because it is taking our attention away from the garage conversion. I am sure that when I do return, I will have plenty of stuff to share with you all. I will be way behind in newsy news; but, that is okay, correct?

Thank you for your loyalty (readership), patience, and for hanging in there with us.

20th Anniversary: Fredericksburg {Part II}

{Part I can be found here}.

On the second day, we attended the Texas VW Classic. Let me tell you, I was in Bug Heaven! I have always adored the VW Beetles and Buses. I have never seen so many bugs and buses in my life! I was overwhelmed! Below is only a small portion of the somewhat large event.

Bunches of Bugs (or Beetles)

I found Herbie! Ha!

Actually, he was one of a few at this event. You can see another Herbie to the left of this one. The old look is my favorite.

Buses!

Cars, cars, and more cars! All VW classics.

More Bugs (or Beetles)

I believe this was one of my favorites at the event. Why?

Because I fell in love with the matching barbecue trailer!

More Buses!

We did not see very many of these VW buses or pickup hybrids. Very unique.

I had a blast exploring this event and even picked up a souvenir t-shirt. All in all, it was a wonderful weekend.

Macro Monday {Eight Spotted Forester}

Eight Spotted Forester; Alypia octomaculata

This is an unusual moth in that it is a day flier. This is also a rare capture as it is tough to snap a decent picture. At least, it is for me because every time I try, it moves too fast.

Feline Friday {Play, Jump, and Flip}

I've been meaning to get a video of Abby Gail playing with this toy we got her about a month ago. It is absolutely perfect to wear her out without wearing me out! Ha! By the way, ignore that old lady. I do not know who she is!

20th Anniversary: Fredericksburg {Part I}

We celebrated our 20th anniversary with a weekend in Fredericksburg, Texas. We barely managed to book a hotel four weeks in advance due to the fact that it was Easter weekend along with a major Texas VW Classic event. The monthly Trade Days was also happening that weekend. But, we found a hotel that had four rooms left! It was a very nice hotel and I do believe we will stay there again someday.

It was a wonderful weekend. At least, it was wonderful for me. We first went to Wildseed Farms. Spring is absolutely beautiful at this place. I did not take a whole lot of pictures due to the fact that we had a beautiful spring on our own land.

The rare Pink Bluebonnet. These are found growing wild in clusters in only a few locations throughout Texas. You can almost always see one or two growing at Wildseed Farms in the springtime.

California Poppy (orange), Verbena (lavender), Corn or Flanders Poppy (red)

Some kind of gorgeous thistle

White Bluebonnet, Bluebonnet, Verbena

After we explored Wildseed Farms and purchased a few things, we went shopping on downtown's Main Street. We also went antiquing. While on Main Street, we saw many Classic VW vehicles. They actually had a road trip through downtown to show off their cars.

It was a long and wonderful day!

Wordy Wednesday {Paw Print}

This is why I tend to be overprotective of my cats.

I followed both Abby and Gracie one morning and discovered these paw prints behind the "hanger" (detached garage). I sent Dan a picture via phone and he did a little research. We both think it may have been a skunk. Pepe Le Pew? Who knows! I only know the evidence of a critter made me nervous.

I never did see any wild critters hereabouts except roadrunners, gophers, and stray (or feral) cats. In fact, Abby made a roadrunner fly! It ran and flew over Dan's truck and continued running.

Feline Friday {Tall Weeds}

Abby Gail

Gracie and Abby Gail

Abby Gail

Both Abby and Gracie loves hiding in the tall weeds. Gracie practically disappears in a few spots on the property because she blends so well among the brown weeds. She has caused me a few panic attacks when I could not find her. Abby Gail looks tiny compared to Gracie; but, she is not. She is practically the same length; but, she has short fur and her build is very slender. She is good at making herself look small.

A Few Favorite Quotes {Deaf and Deafness}

Listen or your tongue will keep you deaf.

~Native American Proverb

And Moses said unto the Lord, O my Lord, I am not eloquent, neither heretofore, nor since thou hast spoken unto thy servant: but I am slow of speech, and of a slow tongue.

And the Lord said unto him, Who hath made man's mouth? or who maketh the dumb, or deaf, or the seeing, or the blind? have not I the Lord?

Now therefore go, and I will be with thy mouth, and teach thee what thou shalt say.

~Exodus 4:10-12 (KJV)

Kindness is the language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see.

~Mark Twain

And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth.

And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?

Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.

John 9:1-3 (KJV)

I have always thought it would be a blessing if each person could be blind and deaf for a few days during his early adult life. Darkness would make him appreciate sight; silence would teach him the joys of sound.”

– Helen Keller ( Blind and Deaf American Author and Educator 1880-1968 )

Thou shalt not curse the deaf, nor put a stumblingblock before the blind, but shalt fear thy God: I am the Lord.

~Leviticus 19:14 (KJV)

No one is as deaf as the man who will not listen.

– Jewish Proverb quotes
