Garner State Park, June 1, 2015

I was not feeling the greatest while camping; but, I am so glad I went because the younger kids were so friendly and adorable. They hung around our campsite a LOT which pleased me to no end.

In the mornings and late evenings, I would wander around looking for flying flowers (butterflies). I actually channeled Elmer Fudd and hunted down some "wascally wabbits" and succeeded. In the afternoons, a woodpecker would regularly invade our campground and I attempted to capture them. Unfortunately, I only took one picture of people. Maybe next time I'll concentrate on capturing people in moments of time.

These were taken on June 1, 2015

Macro Monday (Diamonds on a Wildflower)

I was out early on March 23 photographing some water diamonds (thousands upon thousands of dewdrops) as the sun was rising. I came across this flower loaded with water diamonds and thought to myself it would make a pretty picture even though the color is a challenge for me. By the way, the second picture below is my favorite.

Picture Dump: Wildflowers III

Picture Dump: Wildflowers I

Picture Dump: Wildflowers Ii

I have spotted the first wildflowers this season! Spring is coming! Hurray! In the meantime, here is one last picture dump of wildflowers from last year. Enjoy.

Indian Blanket; 4/24/2014

Sunflower; 4/24/2014

Wild Spiderwort; 4/24/2014

One of these days, I’m going to get the purplish color to shine through.

Unidentified.; 4/24/2014

I know what this is. For the life of me, I just cannot recall the name.

Sensitive Plant {Mimosa pudica}; 4/30/2014

Unidentified; Mexican Hat? With False Dandelion; 5/1/2014

Bluebonnet gone to seed; 5/6/2014

Bluebonnet gone to seed; 5/6/2014

Most likely Coreopsis linifolia {Texas Tickseed}; 5/6/2014

Lazy Daisy; 5/6/2014

Coreopsis basalis {Golden Wave>}; 5/6/2015

I was thrilled to see this flower on our land in addition to the Texas Tickseed. I have memories of our first spring at our first house with the golden wave in our backyard. It was the first and only time we had them there. I do believe we mowed down the backyard too soon. I will need to dig up the picture of me standing among the flowers and post it soon.

The above three pictures are all from the same plant. I have no clue to its identification. 5/6/2015

Horsemint; 5/23/2015

I believe this is a slight aberration in the coloring of this particular plant.

Coreopsis and Morning Glories; 8/6/2014

Rain Lilies; 9/23/2104

These only appear after a decent rain shower.

Macro Monday {Longing for Spring}

Texas Paintbrush (or Indian Paintbrush), April 8, 2014

I am anxiously awaiting spring. I miss the colorful wildflowers and plants. We just finished building a new potato bed and we are getting geared up for gardening soon.

Forewarning: Be prepared for some wildflower picture dumps in the near future. They are from last Spring. I have been going through some pictures that I have yet to process and the wildflowers fit my current mood (longing for spring).

Picture Dump: Birds of Spring and Summer

I have already posted pictures of hummingbirds here and here. I also posted a couple pictures of both Red Wing Blackbirds and House Finches here.

Meadowlarks. Shot on March 18, 2014

For some odd reason, the second picture is a favorite of mine.

Scissortails. Shot on April 13, 2014

These were my first somewhat successful attempt to get pictures of these flighty birds.

The parents of the cardinal babies. Shot on July 31, 2014

The last baby fledged from the nest in the afternoon on July 31, 2014.

I witnessed the event and it was ever so cool. It just bravely took off from a branch, sailed and did a slow fall to the ground. The baby could not quite fly; but, the Mama bird was anxious to get it moving.

It was one tired baby after it went across the entire back yard. (We have just over an acre of land). She hopped across barb wire fencing and attempted several times to get into the tree and finally managed to hop across the long thick grape vine branch and settled herself in the tree. Once she got to that spot, she refused to budge.
