Selfies {Beekeeping 101 course} and Some History (with Pictures)

Who Are These People?

We attended a beginner's Beekeeping Course on April 8th. It was a lot of fun for me and a brand new experience for Dan. Due to this class, I think it has helped convinced and encouraged Dan to partner up with me. But first, I want to build some shade for our future beehives as we do not have mature trees on our land. I have given myself 'till next spring (2018) to do all that we need to do to get some hives started.

Here is a little history about me: My Dad was a hobby beekeeper in the 1970s. I've always been fascinated with those bees. And fearless. Dad even took me to a friend of his that helped harvest some honey which was the coolest experience a girl could have. I wanted to own and maintain several hives when I grow up and now that I have space and land to do so, I am determined to have a few.

A Cousin of Cousin Itt of the Addams Family

Remember Cousin Itt of the Addams Family?

Well, Dan ran across a cousin of Cousin Itt getting a haircut and snapped a picture without her permission.

See the resemblance? Yes? No?

Well, this person certainly was much happier with her hair cut off.

Oh, it is me! Ha!

This is a terrible picture snapped with my phone. But, I liked it very much and decided to keep it.

Here are a few more pictures of us all cleaned up from a "photo shoot" in cloudy weather as the sun was setting!

I snapped this shot while setting the camera up. I love this one for some odd reason.

He surprised me with a kiss just before the camera snapped a picture.

I stumbled all the way to him and we were both laughing at how ungraceful I was in my boots. But, this happened to be my favorite picture out of all the ones I managed to capture.

We are finally looking "normal". Not a bad photo session considering the odds against me (sun setting and densely overcast).

And oh, the only reason why we were all dressed up on this day (December 4th) was an office party we decided to attend later that night.

Wordy Wednesday (Selfies}

These pictures were taken the day after we returned from camping at Garner State Park (June 11, 2015) and we discovered Abby Gail is sick. She was extremely needy. The poor thing struggled with bad ear infections that gave her a poor appetite for weeks.

By the way, my forehead is not dirty. It is bruised. A heavy metal camp lantern reached out and hit me in the middle of the night. Ha! Seriously though, I walked into it in the middle of the night and was stunned. (I froze in place.) As a result, the camp lantern swung back and hit the same spot again.

"You can take the cat out of the wild but you can't take the wild out of the cat". – Dan

This was his response to my text concerning Abby losing her mind when she attacked me. I had to put her in time out for the first time in ages after she attacked me again a few minutes later.

This lousy picture is of her being loving and "asking for forgiveness" after being released from time out and slinking back into my room. She had worked her way onto me while I was on office chair and on the computer. She purrs, kneads, and snuggles my neck. How can you resist a mischievous bratty loving cat like that? SMH

And yes, that is Abby photobombing the picture.

T-shirt. I saw this and immediately thought of my eldest brother… And then one of Dan’s brothers… And then, Dan himself… and then, a nephew….

Phone {Picture} Dump I

I was again shocked with the number of pictures on my phone dating from way back in December of 2014! A reminder: I often communicate with Dan via text. I would snap a picture and send it to him. Anyway, I am dumping the best ones here for posterity sake.

Enjoy!

My Old Childhood Jewelry. January 8, 2015

{I finally did something with the majority of my childhood jewelry that I kept – I placed them inside a shadow box and hung them up in our guest bathroom along with a few other mementos. Most of them are tiny little pins that I wore as a tiny child whenever I dressed up. The charm bracelet has my name engraved on it and is extremely fragile. I loved the heart pendant and the opaque silhouette necklace.}

Camera (Picture) Dump I

I was shocked with the number of pictures on my phone and the oldest was taken back in July 2013! Crazy! FYI: I communicate a lot with Dan via text while he’s at work. If something unusual happens, I have to take a picture and send it to him!

I decided to upload the pictures to my computer, go through them all, and pick the best ones to dump on my blog for posterity sake and then delete all of them. Here are the first fifteen that I kept which are heavy on cats!

She is on Dan’s legs with one of my legs on Dan. She was playing with a shoestring which is why she looked wired and crazy. Dan actually took this picture and I made him send a copy to me.
