Macro Monday {Phidippus audax}

Daring (or Jumping) Spider

I was turning our compost tumbler when this tiny thing appeared and scared me out of my wits. It was extremely tiny! I believe it is a juvenile. I went to the house to grab my camera. This was the last shot I took. I gathered up my courage and slowly got as close to the critter as I could, took a deep breath to calm my nerves and snapped the picture. I am amazed at how well it turned out.

  1. @FlakyLMDI am leary of spiders; but, I like them because they are beneficial critters. This one was cute up close!

  6. It is a wonderful photo! I'm not scared of creepy-crawlies, but they can make me jump when I see them unexpectedly like you did! Great macro.

  7. I've always thought jumping spiders were so cute. That's really a good shot of one, they have amazing little eyes, and I like the ones that look silvery.

  9. @ulla laihoThese do make me scream when they make threatening gestures. I had one in the past jump out at me making me run away! Ha! But, I know they are harmless and generally, non threatening which is why I keep trying to get great pictures of these daring (or jumping) spiders.

    Thank you for stopping by!
